An optional/restricted holiday is a non-working day offered to employees in a particular religious, cultural, demographic, or employment group to celebrate or commemorate a special day.

These holidays are not mandatory, and employees can choose to take them.

A cap or limit is set on the number of optional holidays an employee can take within a specific timeframe.

To set the cap limit for holidays.

On the home page, click the “Settings” icon in the right-hand corner.

Click “Configure Rule.”

Click “Advanced Settings.”

Enter the number of days in “Cap For Optional Holidays.”

Click “Save.”

Note: If the restricted holidays have been capped at “1” a year, the employee can avail of only one optional holiday.

If he applies for 2 days in ESS, a pop-up message will be displayed that the employee cannot apply for more than 1 day.
